“RETURN DITCH:” channel carrying water from an irrigation canal back to the river or from a secondary channel to the main canal. Horizontal or sub-horizontal ditches that allow for the uptake of groundwater and driving it towards the outside. Any stretch of an underground irrigation channel is also known by the same name. The terminology “Qanat” is also applicable.
