HAILSTORMS

The hail is associated with the formation, under certain circumstances, of an intense storm that is specific to the formation of large, dense cumulonimbus in which there are strong currents of rising air. This phenomenon is what is known as storm: thunder, lightning and heavy rain.

In these circumstances, and in a few cases, the precipitation reaches the ground in the form of ice. That is known as sleet or hail. It consists of a ball of filaments with an internal structure of layers, which acquires diameters ranging between 0.5 and 5 cm, and it usually has highly negative effects on crops. A hailstorm, even of short duration, can blast to ruins within minutes, harvests and even, in the case of woody crops, prolonged damages due to the injuries that occur on the wood. In the agricultural gardens, the transitionary period betwen spring and summer and summer and autumn are the most likely dates for the appearance of this undesirable phenomenon.
